Showtime's The Big C will be returning for a second season!

If you're like me and watched Season One of The Big C, starring Laura Linney (Clint Eastwood's daughter in Absolute Power, also in The Truman Show and a dozen other films), you probably thought Laura's character died at the end. I certainly did. I know I boo-hooed for an hour afterwards, loving the scene where her teenage son found all the presents she had in storage for him, but wouldn't be around to see him open them in later years. My mom died of cancer, so I knew exactly how the boy felt and identified with him completely. Well, this show did so good on Showtime that the cable network decided to bring The Big C back for a second season, and I'm as happy as a jack rabbit in a carrot patch about it. This is a fabulous show with drama and comedy mixed in, and a great cast of people displaying their acting chops in roles they were born to play, especially Oliver Platt as Linney's husband. I love this guy as an actor and try to see everything he's in. If you haven't seen The Ice Harvest with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, then buy it or rent it because whenever Oliver appears in it, he steals the scene right out from under everybody else around him, even John Cusack. It's takes some damn good acting to do that. Laura Linney is probably the only actor who can hold their own with Oliver, and she definitely wins your heart in this series about a woman coming to grips with her own mortality and trying to keep her family together. A fantastic series, so watch it!
