The Big C is back on Showtime, Monday, June 27th, at 10:30PM

In a little over a month, the second season of The Big C with Laura Linney and Oliver Platt will return to Showtime on Monday, June 27th, at 10:30PM. Yeah!

I, for one, can't wait to see what happens with Laura Linney's character, Cathy Jamison, this summer and her husband, Paul, who's played by Oliver Platt. These are both dynamite actors who shine brillantly in a show dealing with a very emotional and touchy subject--Cancer. This year, Cathy Jamison, will be battling the cancer full tilt with everything western medicine has to offer. Her husband, Paul, will be there at her side. Keep in mind that no matter how serious the subject, there will also plenty of humorous moments involving everyone, including her brother, Sean, who's played by J.B. Hickey. This was certainly one of the top shows last year on Showtime, so the creator, Darlene Hunt, and the staff of writers, have their jobs cut out for them this season.

On a side note, my mother died of cancer almost thirty years ago, so I can certainly identify with much of what's going on in the show and with the deeply felt emotions that are displayed from week to week. It doesn't hurt that there are other subplots going on in The Big C that involve the main character's homeless brother, Sean, and how he deals with living in a house this season.

If you, or anyone in your life, have dealt with cancer, I encourage to watch this show and the fantastic cast of actors on it. I think it will help you to deal with the illness it in a more honest and positive way. It's been said that laughter is one of the best things to use in fighting the disease. I suspect there will be plenty of laughing and crying before the second season comes to an end.
